Sure -- my telescopes all have names, I usually name my cars, and I once rode a bicycle named "Fred" around France for 2 years :)
Naming them makes them seem more like they belong to you, and more familiar. Besides, it's fun coming up with interesting names. One of my telescopes is named "Hipparchus" (look it up) :)

Yes, in high school my friend and I had a journal that we used to write notes to each other in, and the notebook was named Doug
