Oh, please, please, please...don't go there. If two don't have a similar understanding of marriage...step firmly and quickly away from that person. Love is love, yet two need to be in emotional balance and agreement of how shared relationship is to be. Example...Two really like ice cream...decide to open ice cream shop but both have entire different ideas and values of how to run that business...then that business is going to fail or one will be left carrying the responsibility and weight of the business. Don't go there.

Sure, you can do what ever you want to do. However, is it going to be a happy and healthy relationship is the real question? Probably not, if your values and ideas of what a marriage are not in line with each other. These things should all be discussed prior to the marriage. Good luck and God bless****

Depends on what you mean by "similar understanding". Is it about who does the wash and who takes out the trash? Or is it about being committed or swinging? These are two vastly different issues (just examples) but one could be dealt with if you really love one another, the other... just say no and move on. I assume you're smart enough to figure out which is which. ;o)

No, and I speak from experience. Marriage is a contract between partners that are essentially building an enterprise together. Unless you are both working with the same vision, the enterprise is doomed.

It happens all of the time. Not enough communication about these things before a wedding takes place.
