Don't think they prescribe medicines anymore for that....didn't 15 years ago when I stopped. Just have to live through the uncomfortable feeling for a few days....and, DON'T let the warm water (in the shower) hit your chest or the milk will start to flow again. Good luck! It's not comfortable but you'll make it!

I'm not sure they use the "drying up" meds anymore. I can tell you what worked for me and my friends. I was amazed at how much easier and less painful it was to do it this way.
First of all, take Ibuprofen or Tylenol. I know this sounds odd, but put washed, cool cabbage leaves on your boobs and wear like a sports bra or something a little snug. Do NOT bind your breasts. It's an outdated technique and can easily cause mastitis and problems. Keep up your fluids.
I also drank SAGE tea..it helps with the weaning.
And make sure to give your kiddo lots of extra love during this transition.
I didn't do any of these the first go-around. My friend told me about these things to do and the second and third go-around were SO SO SO much better.

From my understanding, they no longer offer the medicine that drys up your milk supply (at least this is what i was told) My doc said to wear a tight fitting sports bra for a few days and I should start drying up on my own. You will be sore for a few days but eventually, it will stop.

Antihistamines will dry up your nasal ducts and your milk ducts.
I believe you should NOT nurse the baby if you have them in your system, because the milk will be contaminated with whichever ingredients are found in the medicine.
***If your child is old enough, put milk in a sippy cup, not a bottle. There's no reason to get them attached to a bottle if they can drink out of a cup!

You don't need to take medicines. Just stop. You'll be uncomfortable for a few days, but then it will be over.

None.. but before you just stop be sure your baby will take a bottle. Mine is 9 months and refuses to take a bottle.. its best for your body and your baby to gradually from breast to bottle... Good luck!
