Saving the planet... if Christians, Muslims etc (well lots of religious groups) believe that 'God' (Allah or whomever) made this planet, us and all the creatures and plants that habit it... why don't they all try saving it for God and themselves... like stopping travelling in planes & cars etc.... stop burning fossil fuels... etc etc... This way they could save God creation and thereby be eligible for a place in heaven... leaving the rest of us to actually enjoy air travel, car travel etc?

Just that ...if the Christains and other religions were to follow the Amish principles ... and practice what they preach, maybe we wouldn't have to 'save the planet' so soon... You listening George Bush jnr! - and to answer the question as to whether I care... Reading answers like Julia's ... is there any benefit in saving the planet for such people? Lets just enjoy what's left of it.

Here in America Christians, to the extent they have a social conscience at all, only seem to care about abortion and gay marriage. Unjust wars, torture, genocide, the environment, poverty just don't make the cut.

Right, I'm living in the UK, I got to get to school everyday by car otherwise I'll have to end up walking 2 hours each day to school which is absolutely impossible as I live by country lanes and that so it's too dangerous to walk there.
My dad has to drive to the hospital where he works (he's a doctor) there is no way that he could walk because it's too far away plus if he can't walk even if he wanted to because if he was ever late when he's on call, he could be putting one of his patients in danger.

We need cars, holidays, blah blah just like everyone else in the world. There is no way we could go about our day to day routines in MEDC countries without cars etc. We try and conserve energy as much as possible (turning off lights, water when they aren't needed etc).

The point is, whether you are christian, muslim, hindu, sikh, athiest WHATEVER, we all live in the same world whether you like it or not. Therefore we ALL have to try and conserve energy, not just us Christians or any other religion.

Well what gets me is why don't all Believers of Faiths Keep there Religions to themselves rather than try and oppress non believers into Believing..The True fact is that Religion Kills more People on this planet than anything else and there is no end of it in sight...Too many faiths have grown Fanatical and caused unrest with all different types of people over the world...All I can say is that it is Sad ..Very sad that me a non believer has to listen to all this ka fuffle and watch our planet die...and as for a god creating this planet ,don't make me laugh! Like anything in life we have to move forward to progress otherwise whats the point of life itself and so many of us stuck back into the dark ages....come on earthlings Sort it out...That's what i say...!!!

Well here in Britain we may well have to do that, that smashing old fellow Gordon Brown is raising taxes on air travel (again) and he wants to make us pay for the roads again by charging us per mile, and congestion is going up to only £25 - we will soon end up paying about £35 every day just to get to work.
Is that quite what you had in mind?

What's travelling in cars and so on got to do with not worshipping out God? Some people don't use these stuff, some do. It doesn't show that they don't believe in God, so what is your point?

I believe the Christian concept is that God will come and save the world himself. Good luck trying to convince them to take this seriously.

Sounds like you don't want to make any contribution, wouldn't you like to help save the planet too? You don't need to be religious to care.

But they'd have to give up soooo much!
why should they bother when they think they can just say sorry and be forgiven!
We should all do our bit even those who like me think it might be too late!!!
Its not for any God's sake but for the future(if any) generations!

Real truth that only people can help themselves (with God's help) to be more reasonable, intelligent, economical, but it's too boring to be without transport at all nowadays:))))

Because God forgives all trespasses as long as one repents before he dies... or at least thats what I'm told, and it explains why so many dying suddenly find Jebuz.

(And because of this everyone can be as selfish and nasty as they like because eternal salvation is always just a prayer away!!)
