It's a cafe with 512 adsl (1 Mbps in future) and 512 (one-way) satellite connections. what could be the possible steps to maintain maximum security as well as providing the maximum speed to all the fixed and hotspot clients (software as well as hardware req.) how to use linksys WAG200G as an accesspoint for hotspot clients? All the desktop clients' disks are auto-revertable, so how to apply windows updates/ patches, software updates, new installations on all the systems without having to visit each workstation. Is it necessary to install Windows server on the main computer as currently windows xp pro is installed?

You dont need server, but it would help. You didnt say how many workstations you have. You can always write a script to pull the updates from your XP based server. Just have the individual updates in a specific admin shared folder. Your script will have to address and execute each individual update, so every month, you will have to update the script. The script could be remotely executed - depending how hard you locked everything down.

Too bad you are only offering 512 dsl. You cant support a lot of clients with this upspeed

For security options I will recomend you "Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP", you can get it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7256D456-E3DA-42EA-857D-92B716077A84&displaylang=en
Is a good optoin according to this page and its description, I have not using really.

And it has a "CriticalUpdates" option that forces the computer to download and install critical updates without waiting for the next critical updates cycle in Windows Disk Protection.

An update deployment is not an easy thing, there is some recomendations and you can select the best for you, but the problem is that to use WSUS or SMS 2003, Is that you must use a Windows2003 server as you said, I see that WSUS is more simple.
