Also you may want to delete all the files in the temporary internet directory periodically. It gets full of junk very quickly.

I have a search engine that you click on and can select Clear Search History. If this is what you mean, try it.

Why not get a program that will do that and more. Download CleanUp.

Covers your tracks on the Internet. CleanUp! deletes traces of you Internet activity that get stored on your hard disk. These things include:

Browser cache
Browser History
Cookies
Bookmarks and Favorites. Deletion of these is optional and disabled by default.

On the browser menu go to 'Tools', 'Internet Options' and clear the history and such there. You may also want to clear autocomplete items under the content tab (3rd tab I think) and select the autocomplete button to get the option to clear these.
