My son wants a new guitar amp for the holidays. What amplifier works well at home for sound fidelity without bothering the neighbors, but at the same time is powerful enough to take to band practice.

I would go with something in the 100 to 125 watt range. Decent at low volume, and still has the punch to keep up with the other instruments. There are many brands out there, and they all claim to be the best, but for the money, Peavy makes several good amps in several styles.

I would suggest a fender 212...its a 100 watt combo (meaning the amp and speakers are in one cabnient) they sound good at lower volumes and are plenty loud for gigs and practice....and relativly cheap...and definatly have the bang for the buck....but being reasonable with the volume at home helps...they runs around 350 bux including tax

My boyfriend is in a band and they're about to do a recording, he is an awsome guitarist and has a MARSHALL STACK AMP. it is by far the best amp for the sort of thing he wants it for........
and guaranteed he would be rapped with it...

I really like the Peavey Classic or Peavey Artist. Great amps and good price.
