12 or 13, as long as she is taught the proper way to apply it so she doesn't look like a prostitute.....or a clown.....

It's a hard one.
Sometimes, I think it relates to how mature the child actually is.
As a teenager myself, I started using lipgloss when I was ten, and I graduated to mascara and natural eyeshadow when I was about eleven or so! Now I'm 16 and I wear pretty much a full face of make-up - I don't know why, but I just have always been SOO interested in makeup and beauty and I love applying it and experimenting!
As for my sister, she's 12 and she probably won't even wear make up. She's just not interested.
Even my Mom hasn't worn a scrap of makeup on her face, and she's naturally beautiful.
My advice would be is to let the child/teen wear it if she really wants to, but don't let her become TOO reliant on makeup (girls my age would rather DIE than be seen au naturel)! The teen years are a time to experiment, so let her do so, but don't let it get too out of hand!

When I was 13 my mom took me to have my makeup done professionally. The artist did a very low-key natural look, and it was perfect.

I used eyeshadow, lip gloss, and concealer along with a bit of pressed powder. It was great! I looked SO much better!

Just for the fact that all my friends were wearing makeup, and my mom thought I felt left out (which I did), that was absolutely the right age. Before that I would not have realized that less is more. After that I would have felt really bad that my friends had already been wearing it for years.

I ithink that lipgloss is okay after 7 years old. Eye shadow (if very light) is okay at 12+. Eyeliner 14+ at least. It's very hard to put on correctly, and looks trashy if done poorly. Mascara depends on the eyelashes of the girl in question. Clear mascara is okay at like 11+. Actual mascara for blondish lashes should be brown, and should wait until 12-13. Dark lashes can take black, but also should wait for 12-13.

It depends on the make up.
Lip gloss should be 7+ if the child knows how to apply
Lip stick should be 10+ because then they would not look like a clown with huge lips.
Mascara should be something like 12+ if they know how to use it and not turn out with a black face.
Eye shadow should be something like 10+ because it's pretty easy to put on.
Foundation should be 13+ because really, you don't need it and they have to get the right colour and all. If it doesn't turn out right it'll look like a monster.
Eyeliner should be something like 15+ because it is really hard to put on. Liquid eyeliner is the same too.
It really depends on your social position though. I mean, if you're a popular person then you would probably start earlier.
If you were a book kind of person, probably only when you're 20!

18, and after you have graduated high school. The reason is that most girls are too small to wear eyeliner and mascara. Once it's on, they look like zombies because of the contrast of the eyeliner.

Instead of worrying about makeup, here's what I suggest for you:

1. Study harder than ever
2. Spend an hour a day in the library
3. Honor your parents and your teachers
4. Get involved in a worthy school function
5. Volunteer a few hours a week for a worthy cause
6. Help someone every day
7. Go to Church

Good Luck

i think for eyeshadow and mascara they should be at least 13 and for eyeliner they should be at least 14. but at my school there are 11 year olds wearing a ton of mascara and eyeliner and eyeshadow but thats their problem because they don't know how to apply it and they look hideous!!! so yeah, 13 or 14

When I was 12, I started wearing eyeliner, lip gloss, and cover-up. I added mascara and eyeshadow to that when I was 15. The trick is to teach them that less is more.

I tell my 5 year old daughter that she can't wear makeup until she is 35.

I actually think it should depend on how mature the kid is and why she wants to wear the make up. I think I will actually let my daughter start wearing it around 13 depending on what happens over the next 8 years.
