Since the Great Doug Williams, YES GREAT, won Super Bowl XXII with the Washington Redskins, there have been great strides in pro football.
There are more black head coaches and a plethora of black QBs; many of them have achieved starting positions.
However, with all their ability, they have yet to win another Super Bowl.
Steve McNair, while with Tennessee, came close in Super Bowl XXXIV.
Being starting QB with the Baltimore Ravens, he now has a very good second chance of being the 2nd black QB to win a Super Bowl.
What do you think?
Will it be Steve McNair with Baltimore or a black QB in a future season or maybe, never?

it will happen. macnair came close and so did mcnabb, even randall cunningham came close had the kicker not missed a field goal against the bucs in the playoffs. there are some great black coaches in the nfl and great black quarterbacks. i always thought cunningham or moon would have went to at least 2. look at the talent of black qbs in the nfl. leftwich, mcnabb when he's healthy, young, garrard if he ever gets his own team. there is talent at that postition, its just takes the right coach and team chemistry for it to happen again. so fair that combination hasnt happened. look at doug williams he was coached by joe gibbs. so it will most likely happen again.

i remember doug williams winning the superbowl but at the time i was a kid and im still the hugest cowboys fan all i could think about was how much i hated the redskins and didnt want to win the sb, but since i have been black for a few years (how long have you been a lack qb? duh i ust started being black a few days ago, i have always been a qb) i have realized how much of a groundbreaking event it was. and i think the next black qb who does when a super bowl should give a lot of thanks to doug williams.

It will be just a matter of time before such a stat repeats itself. However, like the other gentlemen said it has more to do with the team rather than the QB. The QB is the most important position on the team and you need someone that plays the game under control (i.e., doesn't turn the ball over with stupid mistakes). Additionally, you need a good cast of players surrounding him in order for him to win the big one.
With regard to McNair, he has the best shot right now among the black QBs. But I am not certain if McNair has enough gas left in his tank to win a Super Bowl.

of course there will be another black qb to do this.
it won't be mcnair with the ravens-this is dallas' year.
it will NEVER be mcnabb.
vince young is a likely probability in future seasons.

question to THE GREAT doug williams the week leading up to his historic SB performance:
"how long have you been a black quarterback?"

I would not be surprised to see the Titans build a Super Bowl champion team within the next couple years around the extremely talented Vince Young. Vince gave just a taste of what he is capable of doing in the comeback win against the Giants and his future looks so bright.

Please tell me you aren't saying he is great just because he is black and won the Superbowl. PLEASE tell me that race has nothing to do with it. I don't know I was paying attention when he was playing so don't know how good he was. Anyway I think McNair has a chance. I'm sure a Black QB will eventually win again. Yeah McNair missed by that much. With T.O. you saw McNabb keep the Eagles in the game. One will eventually do it.

Definately....but (and quote me on this) it will NEVER be Mike Vick....McNair, on the other hand, will have a look at it this year...it depends on the talent AROUND the QB....ala John Elway, he LOST 3 Superbowls before they drafted Terrell Davis...then they WON 2.

QB position is overrated. Raffsenburger or however you spell it...played like crap and still won it last year. If a QB wins the big game it won't be due to his skin color...it will be about his system, his execution, his heart and desire to win. Can we move on from this...
