Is this place just so good that everybody knows everything about it?

I was not asking a political question I was hoping for a non typical English respone but it seems I'm not going to get one. I was not taking the p or expecting a typical stick up the **** English answer. I know where it is, I live here... So you know where Euskadi is do you? I think not. It was a genuine question about the area with the biggest tourist industry on the Iberian peninsula, the fastest growing ski resorts in the world, an economy bigger than the rest of Spain put together. I don't give a crap about independence, or if you think it is "Spain" or not. This area pays more in taxes to Madid to keep you people that live in the south in the manner to which you have become used to than any other area. Do I care? No I don't. I am English and I am not proud of it, we have this attitude all over Spain. Why do the Brits have this way about themselves no matter where they live? Sod you but I'm alright! Why do you treat fellow Brits here the way you treat Pakistanis in the UK. Grow up.

Ok the typical:

"Catalunya is not Spain"

Only joking :-)

I think because catalunya has much in common with the south of france / beach / ski etc that people wrongly assume thats all there is. Traditions from the region are very little publicised in comparison with the rest of the country.

Andalucia and Madrid sell themselves on the mysterious "Spanish culture" which to the outsider appears exciting and different. hence a number of questions here relating to it.

Although I put my website together about Madrid (http://www.madrid-guide-spain.com/index.html) I´ll be honest and say that I´ve some great Catalan friends.... after all the calzotada is something to be done in a group :-)

This place is in Spain, ever heard of a city called Barcelona? It's in Catalunya.. but I don't know why nobody asks anything about it, maybe because the people from there don't like Yahoo Answers...

on the contaray to TOTO, i believe there is a trend in the new world politics to create smallest states possible. ethnic differences have started to play a vital role more than ever. some nations see themselves very(!) different from the majority with whom they have been living for ages.

i want to ask some about catalunya (im not spanish by the way) what good will it make if catanlunya declares independence from spain?

CATALUÑA IS SPAIN, BARCELONA TOO...CHECK IT OUT IN THE MAP!!!

SOME OF THEM WANT TO BE INDEPENDENT, BUT ITS OK, EVERY COUNTRY HAS A REGION LIKE THAT (CALIFORNIA IN USA, CORSE IN FRANCE, NOTHERN IRELAND IN UK, ...) BT REALLY, ITS NOT A BIG DEAL!

AND ...REALLY...SOME OF THEM MEANS MINORITY, OTHERWISE, IF THEY WERE A MAJORITY THEY COULD DO A REFERENDUM YEARS AGO!! AND THEY DIDNT.! SO...SMALL PERCENTAGE.

VISIT SPAIN, NICE COUNTRY!
