The only profound method is this: experience. Practice with audience, practice at home with people around, show your videos to your friends, get used to the public. Make them a part of your acting: after all, they are the receivers of what you deliver on stage. It's true that you enjoy it just for the sake of it, but you do it for THEM. So accept them as a part of the setups: they came to appreciate you. You came to give something. You have it and you can deliver it properly. Not because of your technique (which is never perfect, no matter how much you practice), but because of your true emotions. That's all. And it's easy. And it's simple. And it takes a lifetime to achieve it. But walking this path is a wonderful way to live your life.

I practice back stage. Drink SIPS of water (to much will hurt your stomach while dancing) Take deep breaths. Laugh with the girls I dance with. I try to remember that I'll just have to wait and see how I do because this is it, and there's nothing I can to now that will affect how well I do onstage. I tell myself that worrying will only make it worse. Why worry about something you can't do anything about? I could either spend my time backstage freaking out....or I could spend it practicing and having fun with my classmates, but either way I will perform the same. It's one of those times where you have to live in the moment, change what you can, and accept what you can't. Picture yourself after wards getting roses and congrats from your family. I'm sure you'll do fine and don't forget to have FUN and smile onstage!! If the sight of the people scares you, look straight ahead (not into the lights though) Try not to pay much attention to the audience, or looking for your relatives and friends, you'll might forget you're dancing! Pretend its just another rehearsal but still do your best!

I've been taking dance for 5 years and how I keep myself from getting nervous on stage is not different from how other people help themselves.

What I do is concentrate on what I'm there for, look at the back of the audience like the exit door and sometimes picture people in their underwear.

Just relax and imagine anything positive. If you've done enough rehearsal and repetition then you should be confident that you won't forget any steps. Have fun and just realize that people are there for a good time. I learned in psychology class that even though we think that people may care or judge, but in honesty, they don't really care too much. HAVE FUN!!

Do something else that you don't really have time to do before the performance, like writing down a list of things you have to do in the next week.

Then when you have to go on, you don't really think about what's happening.

I usually just pretend it's a day at class and he only one watching me is my dance instructor. I also take deep breaths and drink water before, but as you step onto the stage you lose yourself and fear and nervousness is gone and your passion for dancing has taken its place.

Close your eyes and picture the way you want things to turn out for you, I mean really FEEL it. Acting it out is even better! Go into your room, close the door, quite down, and act the whole thing out, just the way you want to SEE, and FEEL it! This will work for ANYTHING in your life, just believe in yourself, and it will happen!

Well, never think about them in their underwear. Think of them trying to do the things you are about to do. They are they to watch you do something that is talented. They're not watching you because they think you'll fall or mess up. Just go out there and do exactly what you've been rehearsing.
