an mp4 is better.
mp3 is a formate used in music files, mp4 is a more later version playing both mp's and mp'4. mp4 is the formate of video. getting an mp4 means you could watch a hole movie on that portable mp4 player and even listening to mp3 files.
some mp4 even come with a camera, games, sound recorder.
get an mp4 it's much cooler

From what i know, Mp3 up to 256 mb; Mp4 - 1 gb or more . Not very sure though.

mp3 is a format plays music but mp4 is format plays video musics or movies. mp4 devices can play mp3 and mp4 but if mp3 devices plays songs formated mp3.
