Hey - the government needs that money to do great works like adding more bureaucracy to the NHS (to increase waiting lists), to build more prisons (rather than reduce crime), to help fund unpopular wars (to let America get more oil) and to pay MPs more money (they can't make ends meet, although the ends in this case are the ends of their wallets that won't meet because they are too full).
Actually count me in. Although it won't make a difference - when did the government ever care about the people?

For what it's worth I will be signing immediately.
Praise the lord perhaps this is sufficient to to get rid of the present head(s) of the thieves kitchen that is laughingly known as the mother of parliaments. Long may the British spirit of independance thrive. While we are at it can we get Europe off our backs too ? Edward Heath conned us into accepting the European community saying we would not lose our sovereignty, ONE of the great lies of 20th century politics. I'd rather be the 51st state than in Europe it has done absolutely zilch for us!

afraid not.On just handing a petition we asked if the read
or took notice of the objectors,no was the reply.
So the only way o stop this thieving is voting in the
next general election.

I will sign it but I do not think it will do any good, do you not think it's just possible that the government are trying to make up the expected shortfall in revenue when smoking is banned in public and will probably help a lot of other people to give up the habit, the poor old motorist is always easy prey

They pay in France and Spain ! it costs nearly £100 to drive 1000 miles "IT'S A BLOODY TAKE ON "
This is the one time that the Brits should stick together and "REVOLT" we dont want this at any price !!!!!!

I've signed it - but just how effective it will be remains to be seen - as this government's "listening to the people" record is pretty dire.
