I'm almost 39 weeks. Throughout my pregnancy, I've been pretty mucousy. I've been needing to wear liners in my knickers for about a month. It was normally a yellow shade of off-white. On wednesday, it was a salmon sort of colour, all day. Now it's gone back to yellowy white. what's going on?

I think you will know when you lose your plug...it is surprisingly big, gooey, and will likely have blood intermixed...that sounds so gross!
congrats & good luck!

I had four children and never lost my mucus plug until I was in labor and at the hospital. I guess everyone is different. :) But yes, it is going to be tinged with blood and could take a while before it's all out. I would think that the reason it's changed back to the yellowy-white is because you've have lost a little of it and now it's back to the discharge. Anyway, it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about but if you are concerned then by all means call your doctor for reasurance. Congratulations and I wish you a blessed, easy, short pain free delivery!!

Believe me, i was just in your shoes not more than two months ago. The salmon color you see is due to your cervix thinning out. The cervix needs to eface to 100% before baby comes. The baby's head is pushing down and engaging in the birth canal making the cervix thin, and subsequently cause any drainage to be tinged pink. The baby is still pushing down, and I promise you that your cervix is still thinning. Mu best advice, and I'm sure you've heard it before is to walk. My fiance and I went to Wal-Mart every night and walked for an hour because it was cold. It allows you some exercise and lets gravity help out the little one. I know you are anxious and nervous. I wish you all the luck for a safe delivery and a healthy, beautiful baby. enjoy it.

The mucus plug is just what it sounds like a glob of mucus. Usually its blood streaked and its can come out over a period of time not all at once.

Good luck hun!

It gets thicker and chunkier when you pass the plug, and usually includes some streaks of blood or brown stuff.

Most women dont notice it. It could be you already passed yours and this is just some 'show' after.

You could always go get checked, to see how youre progressing.
