If you have an account at the bank, yes, you can exchange your currency- and probably get a LOT better rate than you do at the airport.. (which is awful!)

Most banks cannot exchange foreign currency. It either has to be a clearing-house bank, or the airport exchanges.

Smaller bank branches probably wont do it for you. But the 'main' downtown bank should be able to. Be careful though, cause I have experienced that if it's not YOUR bank- they want to charge you fees and commission. Some post offices do it too... Just depends on the branch. Airports have Bureau De Changes- even the small ones... but they ALWAYS take a chunk for themselves. And if they CLAIM they do it for free then WATCH OUT! That just means that they have doctored the exchange rate and they get their cut from that!

Anyway, good look. Just really be aware of your options and their charges and commissions. Especially if you are changing large amounts. It could cost you a lot! In my experience its better to just take a debit card and not take lots of cash. Travellers checks are good in principal, but once you are abroad, you will struggle to find places that will take them. People will cash them for you for a FEE & PERCENTAGE. (highway robbery!) Good luck.

Banks will exchange foreign currency, and usually give a better exchange rate than the kiosks at airports.
