if you mean at home, what i did,,
was start introducing little words, for things around the house,,,,, door,,, chair etc. i followed the concept, just like you dont need to learn all the ingredients in a cake to know what a cake is,,,,, you dont need to learn all the letters of the alphabet nor phonics, to learn words,,, though you can add in the alphabet if you want to

for colors, different colored blocks,,,, mention and show a red block,,,,, mix all the colors up,, and ask them to pick the red one,,

what i did, was a color and a word and a number, a week,,,,,focus on those,,, point them out when you see them,,,,,,,,perhaps in a book your reading
as the child progresses, you can adapt that, and pick out perhaps a "theme " for the week,,,
such as the color is blue, let them learn blue and say sky,,, something thats often blue,,, explain feeling blue, etc, elaborate, the sky is blue during day, has clouds,, is appears dark at night etc,,

keep education fun, like play, and most children enjoy it,

also, at 3, i introduced "school" it started out as 30 mins, sitting at a table,,,,, perhaps drawing,,, playing with those blocks, just something organized that the child knew they were expected to be at,,,,

slowly work up to two half hours a day,,

do it at your childs pace, add more in if they are grasping things fast, just continue if they are not responding that well,,,,, its not so much about what they actually can show you they learned, its more about presenting it to them, and they will learn..

that is just a few ideas,

if you meant sending to a child-care, preschool, i dont know, i homeschooled my daughter till first grade this early time is a great time to give them a good foundation,

also, besides the "book learning" teach him about acceptance, and not to be quick to judge people,,,,, like some of the comments here have done,,,, about spelling, who know if you were just typing fast, if english is your first language? (that might not be spelled right lol and i tutor english)

I bought Hooked On Phonics for my little girl who is 4 and within one week, she knew all of her letters and sounds. I would tell her to go through the cards and listen to the tape every night and if she did it without fussing, she could pick out a small prize at the end of the week. Because this is the first step to reading and so many kindergarteners struggle with learning their sounds, I feel this is really going to help her. When she was 3, she started playing with her Leapster, which is a great learning tool, and her V-Smile. She also likes computer games. Flash Cards are helpful too. There are many ways to get a head start on learning for your 3 year old. You just have to find what he/she likes the most and go with that.

At this point your child should know colors, shapes, count to 20, recognize at least 20 animals and make their sounds, these opposites Up-down, big-small, hot-cold, wet-dry
You can start introducing letters and numbers, but don't expect much, they can only focus for 1/2 hour at the time if that much, learning should be more like a game.
You can get a book on preschool education it's a very good guide but shouldn't stick to it strictly, every child is different. I believe at this point in their life we should teach them more social skills, etiquette and moral.

teach him how to read correctly, how to make sentences, grammar would be good, spelling is the most important, teach him multiplication, inequalities which is easy.
Inequalities= take the signs as crocodile mouths and draw fishes on two sides, one more fishes and one less fishes, tell him that crocodile likes to eat more fish, so where should the crocodile mouth go, this is very easy, my mom used to teach me this. How to write nicely, because they may result in bad handwriting like me.

I think you need to educate yourself on how to spell, before you try and teach a child. Read books to him, buy some crayons and let him scribble, try to teach him how to write his name. Take him with you on errands and talk to him about the various things you see together. Like a Tree, tell him "That's an oak tree. It's spelled T-R-E-E, now you tell me son."

Read to him all the time. Do not read him books on his level, but higher than his level. He will soon move up to reach where you are at. Then go higher.
