Hey, I fell down the stairs 2 days ago and injured my wrist and ankle. Initially I could not really walk, and was unable to move my thumb, but yesterday my ankle was slightly better (have made it to the shops and back), and I had regained some of the movement in my thumb and wrist. I'm no better than that today though, so I'm going to casualty in a bit, as I'm finding it hard to do anything. I'm curious though, if the doctor thinks I shouldnt be walking on my ankle, and I only have one good wrist (the one opposite to my bad ankle) am I gonna be stuck in bed for ages?

Why will you be stuck in bed,you can still get around with crutches thats if you need them its not the end off the world.Wait till youve been to A/E and see what the drs and the x-rays says, you may off only sprained your wrist and ankle, and if you have its more then likely a tubigrip for both limbs.Well godd luck and let us know how u get on.

You won't be stuck in bed. My mum broke her foot last year and she had a cast on it and they didn't say she had to keep off it or anything. The likeliest thing is you've bruised the tissues in it as it is feeling better today. But even if you have broke any bones you won't be laid up in bed as you have managed to walk to the shops and back. If you had broke both legs and it was a bad break then it would be a different story.

You sound okay to me - otherwise known as one of the walking wounded. No harm in checking in at your local A&E and see what they might be able to do. If you've got no swellings, then probably all is well - the most likely is a sprain of some sort - check it out.

No, you will not be stuck in bed for ages. Take it easy for a while.
