Are you sure your CD drive is a CD-writer? If is it then the install of the software was bad, try installing again.

First, check the drive to see if it actually capable of burning a CD, some drives can only read CD's.

Some CD's need to be "Formatted" before burning them.
Check your software for this option, utitlty, or checkbox in the process. But, this might not apply to all CD's.

Some songs might have data in them that stops the burning software somehow.

A technician needs to know your software name, computer model and CD drive model to really help.

What kind of software are you using to burn the CD's? Roxio and Nero are popular, and if we know what you are using we might be able to advise you.
