Try drawing a picture of him and frame it.

A magnet for the fridge with a picture in it.

Take the glass christmas ball ornaments....write all of your familys name on them with glue...then sprinkle with glitter...and add a design and sprinkle that too....one color at a time though...I made these about 5 years ago and still have them and my kids love looking for theirs to hang on the tree..

Or maybe a "Worlds Best Dad" poster. Put all the things you like about him on it. Add a picture of him. And make sure you sign and date it.

Get a shadow box...(you can get these at any craft store)...and design it around him or your family.....like if he likes car races, you could get a small car in there, and then if he likes to fish, you could put a little fish or a fishing pole in it, reading ...put in a book...etc...and you can find all of these little mini's at the hobby store too.

Make a coupon book just for him from you...like put one in for "Good for one lawn mowing", or "Good for one hug", or "Good for one doing the dishes, without grumping about it", etc...whatever you want....and put them all on a ring or string together with ribbon.

Well, that's all I can think of for now...Hope this helps.

The gift that gives all year long.

On a calender (the kind with space to write in the days) put a promise of an act or activity that you will perform for your Dad.

It can be a chore (something you usually do under duress) or a show of gratitude (a hug, play dad's favorite board game, go for a walk together, play ball, etc.) Select things your father would be happy to share with you, but things you don't do enough.

Put one item on every day, (items can be repeated) or if you prefer, every month (to be repeated once a week, or daily) decorate the calender pages with smiley faces, or stickers of your choice, or even small pictures of your family members. (you can get a blank calender at office supply stores).

Another version of this gift is a decorated jar or tin, filled with tasks and/or special gestures, one to be drawn weekly, or daily.

The secret to making a special gift is surprise, and putting YOURSELF into the gift. That's why your Dad prefers something "made" by you.

I am not sure if you are asking this for a gift for your dad, but regardless, take a photograph of yourself, and if you have brothers and sisters, include them (you can even use a webcam and print it with no expense)... it could even be a silly sort of one, and then make a picture frame. It is really easy to do. Take popcicle sticks, glue, foam cut outs, jewels, sequins, whatever you feel creative with, and design one yourself. Once you have the frame made, glue the picture onto construction paper or cardboard and glue it to the frame. Put a magnet on the back, and there you have it, a wonderful, from the heart, and very personal gift for dad, mom, grandparents, whomever. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

I think I'm going to make this for my brother.

Go out and find a nice size (but not huge) tree limb with lots of branches, no leaves.

Spray paint it black.

decorate it with a strand of tiny, white Christmas lights, wrapping the string of lights once around each branch as you go around and around working toward the outer ends of the branches.

End up with the lights back at the trunk, add a short extention cord from there to the plug in(so there won't be a tell-tale trail of lights when it's turned on. :)

"plant" it in a nice, over-sized wooden or ceramic pot (also black).

They make a really nice soft light for a room or hall for all year round, because I've done this on my fake Ficus tree.

The only thing that concerns me is if the wood dries out, will it become a fire hazard...I'm not sure how to solve that issue.

There a lots of things you could make. For instance how about a picture frame out of wood that you paint and decorate and then put a picture of you inside of the frame. I bet your dad would love that. Hope that helps and have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!

Make a book of memoirs. Write down all your best memories of you and your dad - whether it was him holding your hand on your first day at school - or throwing a ball around in the park with you or anything else you can think of. If you can - add some photos. I started one for my mother fifteen years ago and it has become a work in progress - with me adding photos and stories to it every year. She absolutely loves it and keeps it in her living room on a reading table for everyone to enjoy.

gifts for whom? i assume you mean for your friends. my sister and i made some frames together a year ago and it was so much fun. i bought some flat foam sheets (very cheap @ the craft store) and i bought foam cutouts and stickers (also very cheap) and made frames for pictures that i already had and then glued the pictures to the frames. you can attach a sticky magnet to the back or just thumb tack them to the wall or bulletin board

Well, you have plenty of time to get a photo/scrapbook together. Include baby pix of him, your mom yourself and other family members that are close to you. Also include any special event pix. Pick out things you know are special to him. Just make something from the heart. That's probably all he wants.

A cake, origami, a card, a bracelet with father & daughter beaded on it, a surprise party, or a nature craft like holly w/ pinecones etc., also try a picture of something.

Make him happy! How? By doing exactly as he asked and think of what He enjoys most in life and make something that will remind him of his joys in life and you at the same time. You know your dad better than us I hope.
