We have installed a fisher wood heater that has been stored for about 20 some odd years..all of the clearences are above code, and all of the pipe with the exception of the elbow that connects the heater to the pipe, go inside one another from the ceiling down to the elbow, everytime it rains we have a leak of tarish looking water where the elbow at the stove ..we have not been able to find one that will go over the pipe...any suggestions??

Yes you should have a cap on the top. You can also go the a Heating supply store/shop and they can make you an elbow to help stop your problem. Good luck.

I have a cap on mine , check the size of your flue . I got mine at lowes. Only problem with those flue caps or roofs is they collect residue and when it rains , black streaks run down the out side of the chimney . black on the outside or water on the inside ... I chose black stuff on the outside ....

Put a chinmey cap outside.It'll let the smoke out, but not the rain in.

You need a cap on the top also a screen for safety.
