Hi - I don't know what the exact requirements are for Oz, but do check all the costs first. If the power regulations are lower there, it might cost a lot to reduce the fun sorry output. It was going to cost 1700€ to make the changes to my Suzi to make it legal to register in France, only to lose nearly 20% of power - no thank you! At least I can keep Brit plates for now. I contacted Suzuki France for the information so try the relevant company in Oz for their requirements, that's besides all the paperwork to prove you don't have to pay tax and then re-registration, etc. We are importing my husbands bike and still jumping through hoops - 4 months and 200€ later and its still not done! Hope you have a better experience if you decide to go ahead.

I took my Triumph Trophy 1992 model to Aus in 1999. The government department had it examined at the import agents warehouse and I was allowed to register it but not to sell it I could either re-export it or break it for spares if I wanted to dispose of it, I brought it back with me this year. To put a bike on the road you have to get it checked by a dealer (my man just counted the wheels, as I rode it to his shop so he could tell it was a goer) then take his report to the taxation authorities and pay up for road tax and basic insurance. My advice would be to sell your bike here and buy another when you arrive, its cheaper that way, no shipping cost, no customs or rego. problems and bikes are cheaper there anyway.
