Well, the O2 sensor probably WON'T cause it to die suddenly. Crappy performance or backfiring maybe but a sudden cutout due to the O2 sensor would be unusual. Neither will the ignition coil most of the time -- it either works or it doesn't. There could be a loose connection to it, but that's not the coil itself. There could be a thermal fault in the coil but those are pretty rare.
You really need to have a diagnostic run performed by a qualified mechanic. There are many possible causes for this and you could waste a lot of time and $$$ trying to shotgun troubleshoot it. Modern computerized diagnostics will usually reveal the cause fairly quickly. If the problem is intermittent they can install a data capture device on your vehicle and play it back once the problem has occured again.

To begin with, the O² sensor won't make it not run. A bad O² sensor might light the check engine light and degrade the performance, but it will still run. What makes it die all of a sudden, then start up without problem? The internal combustion engine takes several things to run, and it one of the components is missing, it will die. If the fuel pump is about to go out, and stops running, so will the car. After sitting for a moment it may run again. Same if the fuel filter is almost blocked and needs to be changed. If the coil pack is having problems it will give the same symptoms, as will a loose primary wire that makes and breaks connection anywhere in the ignition system. I don't suppose it would be a clogged air filter, or it would run poorly all the time.
But it definitely is not the O² sensor. If you have a check engine light, throw the scanner on and see what kind of error codes are stored in the system. If not, use your eyes to check wiring, your ears to see if the fuel pump is running as it should, and I'd change the fuel filter just because it wouldn't hurt and might help.
Good luck with it.

This problem you are having sounds like it could be the ignition module. It will either be on the side of the distributor or on the fender well. You can take it off when you get to the parts house in about 15 minutes in either location. Most parts houses will test it for free, make sure they test it 3 or 4 times and if it fails buy a new one.
