The best gift for a teen these days? A gift card from a local bank. This way, they can buy just what they want! You'll be the "hip" parent with that gift! No returns or exchanges either! It's the perfect "teen gift" in my humble opinion!

An Ipod, a cell phone with a whole lot of bells and whistles (MP3, Internet, etc...), a gas gift card (if he has a car), a laptop (if he's going off to college soon).

Kids that age want money. To present it in "giftier" form, convert it to a gift certificate for his favorite store, or a ticket book (passes) to his favorite movie theater.

gift cards are cool but sometimes they mean you put no thought into the gift. i would say....cds, DVD, clothes, things he needs...socks, undies, etc., anything that he is into..collects something for example.
