More RAM will enhance the systems performance. Games down load into the hard drive and then run using RAM and since it does that then the more RAM the better the game will function. The amount of RAM is based upon the game itself.

Hi-Fi games will require 1GB of RAM for efficiency. Also increase your virtual RAM. You can do that by going to Control Panel and clicking on system. Then click the Advanved tab. Choose Performance settings. then click the Advanved Tab. At the bottom you can change your Virtual Memory (space in your harddrive that acts like memory). It is used for Programs and Apps that exeed you memory, not to mean you can run a 1GB memory application or game using 512MB of memory. It is used for efficiency.

all pc executables ( os , antivirus software , printers , etc...) needs a part of a sistem power ( cpu and ram ) . example : if you have 256 mb ram on windows xp os , operating system required for normal function about 120-200 mb . or , if you install a new game ( such for example quaqe 4 ) this need about 512 mb for good speed or 1024 mb ram for optimal.
and you have only 256 ! minus 200 for win xp , result 56 remaining. oops , there is a problem!
you can see how ram memory consume your os by pressing simultanelly CTRL + ALT + DEL.
A window will appear , and you will see all process of your computer , detailed information ( press PROCESSES ) or system running performance ( press PERFORMANCE )

at the end i hope you'll understand the true importance of ram memory . higher memory you use , higher speed of your applications you will have . of course , depends of the cpu frequency more.

you won't have any problems for now or at least till next year with a 1024mb dual channel DDr2 memory...
but if you have the money get a 2048mb dual channel DDr2 memory .
The better memory you have the faster your games will get loaded and you can play better.
also you nedd to have a good VGA(grafic card) too if you want to play hi-fi games,,,,, geforce works better with games while ATI is better for grafical programs.
