Good question. I would say a matter of pride, letting others think the country is wealthy but really it's an empty shell living on borrowed time. Sucking the tax payers dry to support the rest of the world?

Great Britain plc is rich beyond the wildest dreams of averice. UK is a member of G8 - the 4th wealthiest country in the world. The economy is booming so hard that our road and railway network is choked with people going about their business. What planet are you living on? Buy shares today.

The NHS alone, is measured as a nation or state, would be the 32 richest economy on the planet. Wake up.

At the moment the UK is the fifteenth richest country in the world. Is that going down the pan? As for bailing out other countries - we are a capitalist country. As a pro-capitalist government it makes economic sense to ensure future goodwill in what might become lucrative markets. That is, of course, if capitalism as a economic system survives.

They do it because people like cici have the view that we owe the world something, the problem is that they are in the minority but everyone else is too busy trying to make a living to make a fuss. The only reason we are more wealthy than they are is because we are cleverer than them, otherwise they'd of had an industrial revolution as well.

The real reason is , now that Labour know they have bombed out in the next elections and most of the counrty wants them out, they have to make friends with other countries to appear successfull. With all the new taxes they`ve invented and possibly the new carbon emmission tax they`ll have taxed the life out the population

to jb- you're a silly little boy too!

You only want what you cna't have.
We took our status for granted.
Foreigners have had our owrst paying jobs for a long time,
while we sought to do our hairs, nails, and make-up, etc.
We now wnat it all back, and we can't even kick aliens out now, because we took it for granted so long.
Not enough time to connect all the dots of this argument.
But we got fat, lazy, and complacent.
We are awakening...

I have never understood this one,
The money recently given to Pakistan would not be needed if they had not spent so much of their own money on Arms, and developing nuclear weapons.

The news today showed our old people dreading having to pay to heat their homes this Winter.
Stop giving away my money to foreign governments and up cold weather payments.
