i have a 1988 toyota orginal pick up truck. i wanted to know if there is any way i can turn it into a automatic instead of my manual transmission. if there is a away is it hard to do?

might as wel buy a new truck. it would cost more than the value of he truck to change the transmission

You have to take the old transmission out, and put an automatic in. It's a fair amount of work, it'll be expensive, and unless you do an exceptional job, it'll always look like someone kludged the truck together from misc. parts. It will be a lot cheaper, faster, and easier to sell the truck and find something else with an automatic in it.

With money anything is possable. There are better projects than converting a 19 year old truck. like buying one with automatic already in it. Some Mexican has been eyeing that truck to take to mexico for some time! You will do better to get a newer truck and selling up to $3,000 Cash for the 88.

It would cost more that the truck is worth. It can be done but you would need a donor truck for the transplant.

Only by replacing it. You might have to change the drive shaft and mounts too.

NO, you have to install an auto transmission. You can't convert it.
