I'm not really asking for you to tell whether werstling is fake or real. Just tell the factors that affect fakeness and realness. There's too much of both.

Well lets put it this way, Boxing which is a real Sport, compared to Wrestling. A Boxer who fights 3-4 a year is a busy Fighter, a Wrestler has that many so called bouts in a week!. Of course it's a Fake, it's all make believe, just a bit of fun./

What is real about the wrestling? The stunts are real. They work long and hard to make them look really devastating for the viewer.

Amazingly enough, there are those that still believe the soap opera storylines are the real deal and get really irate at one character or the other. They have their favorites.

Everything you see with the wrestling programs on television are rehearsed and yes there are some really spectacular moves that boggle the mind.

But for what it's worth, these guys are all stuntmen and what they do is so incredible and real. But the ongoing soap opera from one week to the next is staged, rehearsed, and practiced, just like the original soap operas running weekdays.

Real, yes, indeedy. Those enormous jumps are real. The landings are sometimes off and they get or give some serious injuries as a result. But most of the time they have done the stunt so many times they have it down right and nobody really gets hurt.

Just remember the fake part is the shouting, arguing, threats, promises, each of the players exhibit when at the microphone. It's all just entertainment.

Well as we've all known for many years wrestling is completely scripted and they aren't actually hitting each other w/ a steel chair and i'm pretty sure an aluminum garbage can doesn't hurt too bad either. But the bumps and bruises are certainly real as are the dangers everytime these entertainers steps into the ring to wrestle. You cant just throw your body around like that off of 20 foot structures onto a mat even and expect it not to hurt i dont care how well u know how to fall. U also cant get thrown into a chain link fence and it not hurt ( i know this personally). they are also cutting themselves which doesn't exactly feel great as anyone who's been cut knows. But the action is relatively fake a body slam the "victim" will land w/ his feet and back hitting at the same moment to soften the blow and protect his head and a drop kick is just a push move. They never truely punch each other and 99% of the storylines are false. Thats the reason there are very few injuries when there should be many if u and i went toe to toe like them and threw each other around like that we would probably injure ourselves. I read an article by James Lauranitass about wrestling sort of (he's the road warrior animal's son and a starting linebacker for Ohio State right now) and he said in it that it is fake but the bruises are real

The stunts and techniques they use are real enough, but the reason PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING is fake is that it's Choreographed, they practice every day, read the scripts and train in the choreography so they can minimize the chance of injury to each other.

All it comes down to being is an ACTION SOAP OPERA. a SHOW for the people who pay to see it in the local arena or on the show when it comes on TV.

but the wrestling (Greco-Roman) you see in High schools and colleges is real stuff.

Well when they fall from the turnbuckle. You can't fake that. And they improvise when they talk. Some are fake and some are real.During matches they do random choreographed moves until the end of the match. But sometimes It could go wrong. Here is a site that shows that. http://www.wrestlinggonewrong.com

The "stunts" they perform are real and amazing. The wrestling is fake. It has to be for the stunts to work.

Most of the matches are coreographed, but most of the injurys are completely real as are the chairs and tables and all the other "weapons" involved.
