when a guy is only interested in a platonic relationship he'll be there when you need a friend, he'll touch you a lot, and, finally, he will like you for your mind not your body.
Some guys are patient and will wait for the right opportunity. But, that usually opens up a can of worms.
I have lots of friends that are women and I cherish those friendships more than with guy friends. A women's perspective is a valuable barometer for lots of things.

most of this guy and girl friendship end up in a more sweet and more romantic relationship.. which is really good.. simply because it is much better to 'fall in love to someone you already know that to someone you just met'
the only problem is.. how to tell and who will first to admit the feelings..
much of the times are wasted simply because most of us never notice the gesture and are too afraid of nothing..
be sensitive.. and if you can, be brave to ask him about his true feelings.. or give him a hint, and you will get the answer to your question.

If he is a single man and you are a halfway good looking woman, I think it is inevitable that occasionally think about sexual relations with you if you are good friends.
Other times ... well it is true that men often think about sex, but not always.
You can have a 'platonic' (non sexual) relationship with a man, but it will not necessarily stop him from thinking about sex occasionally unless he is a eunuch.
I can't speak for women but I assume the same applies to you.

as long as theres no sex or he doesnt make any moves on you
then it can be considered as plutonic...but would you want to ruin a perfectly good friendship

All girls would like to believe that guys and girls can be friends with no emotional attatchments. But its completely not true, because deep down either he has something for you, or vice versa.

go out together, get drunk and arrange it so that you have to share a bed. if you wake up and nothing happened, it's 100% platonic
