i like the soulful sound of a black church choir they have such a way to make it sound great, but whats the correct term for it?

Some people call it Gospel music, or the choir could be singing Blues, or even Old Soul. Depends on the choir.

Only name I can come up with is "Gospel". (but as far as I know everybody, whatever skin-color, can sing Gospels, so I'm not sure if it's the exact name you're after)

It's Gospel music, but I think you may know it as "Happy Clappy" music, which doesn't sound quite so good.
