If you had a job and told them you would pay for half of it, they might reconsider. A laptop is an expensive piece of equipment. I hope you respect the fact that your parents might not have the extra cash to spend on one. If you contributed, it might make a difference and they might change their minds. Try it. You have nothing to lose and a laptop to gain. Good luck.

Well, if they say that they can't afford it, then they can't afford it. Ask them for a desktop computer instead, because it's less expensive.

Other than that, you should get a part-time job. Maybe if you can save up at least half of the amount, then your parents might be willing to fork over the rest.

Carry your desktop around the house until you get a hernia. Then tell them instead of surgery to repair the hernia, you'll accept a laptop, since it would be much cheaper.

Tell them that it would be very helpful to you to use for your school work. Tell them since a laptop is portable you would be able to take it with you to places such as the library where you could work on your work privately and would not be bothered or distracted by noise and your surroundings.

Maybe get a used one that is cheaper. Ask what they can afford. Offer to get a job and save up half and they pay half. Maybe they can't afford it at all and you'll have to work to get it yourself. Nothing wrong with hard work to earn it for yourself.

Have them check out www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. They have several systems for less than $600. If you check back frequently, they often have systems that are less than $400. Everything is new and under warranty.
