I have always thought they did that while videotaping our awkward attempts to write with those damn chained pens. I can just see the staff, on break, laughing their butts off watching us struggle to make the pen reach the depostit slip. Don't banks make enough money? LOL Surely they will go broke if they left pens we could take with us, if so disposed!

To avoid pen thief. Bills being well protected.

However, I haven't seen doors totally unlocked in a bank for a while.

Good question! Maybe because people need to sign their checks and don't carry pens with them.

this is so easy to answer ;; the pens are lightweight and can be easily carried off ;; But the doors are very heavy and are very hard to carry off
