Honestly have you ever reallllly tried it? Or do you just not like how it looks? That is can seemingly last forever? That it has probably been regifted 42 times?

I personally have never tried it but I say I don't like it. I can also say that I will probably never try it unless someone can give me a compelling reason that I should, followed with a homemade fresh piece that just came out of the oven.

My father received a Fruitcake every Christmas...as long as I can remember, from his sister in Boston. When that package came in the mail, it marked the beginning of the holiday season for our Family! I never tried it..those little green things freaked me out. Well Daddy passed away a few weeks ago..he was 90 yrs old ! A lot of fruit cakes ! I'm gonna miss that package this year.

I actually do like fruitcake! No, not the brick you can go into the grocery store and buy, that stuff is by far, disgusting! But, you should find a good home-made recipe for fruitcake and you may find that you really enjoy it! I think the reason it is re-gifted so often is because people only buy the cheap brick from your local grocer! Try and find a friend or family member who makes the real stuff, and give it a try. Its scrumptious!

I cannot give any reasons why you should really want to eat it. It tastes awful to me and I love all things sweet. If it is not fresh out of the oven, it can be really thick and not as soft, unlike regular cake. The little gummy fruit things, yuck!! I know its a traditional food, but one I just can't do. ;)

I love fruit cake. I have since I was a kid. It really bothers me when people say they dont like something they have never tried. its not that you dont like it, its that you wont try it and want to give an excuse not to. try saying you have no interest in trying it rather then you dont like it because thats kind of a lie. dont knock what you havent tried.

for the recipe, you're on your own. However, the compelling reason you should try it is this- Try everything once, what's the point of living? remember green eggs and ham?
