I love that show. Is it based on real charectors? i ask because it even had a look tonight at "Bachelor: rome"
They did a little fun skit with Howie Mandell too.
They brought him on and he was doing some jokes and then one of the cast asks him if he would like to take one of the suitcases with a joke inside or go do a skit. Then he uses a phone saying its the banker and pisses off Howie by takng forever on the phone.

No, it is not based on real characters. However, since it is supposed to be a SNL type show, they follow the format of using current pop references along with a host identifier.

the "official" word is that it's not based on real characters, but probably based on real events of a improv-comedy show and loosely based on real characters.

and Howie is only on all the shows because the ratings for his show are down, he's trying to get more viewers.

It relates back to the time when Lorne michaels left and then came back on SNL to return it to greatness. It also has something to do with Brian Tartakoff and NBC. It is way off of the truth but it works.
