The rulers of Mesopotamia, the Assyrians (descendants of Mesopotamians today) once ruled a might empire. Due to Arab invasions, and Islamification, Assyrians were either forced to become Muslim or be killed. Thousands upon millions of Assyrians have died in their homeland, forever losing their land. Iraq is being run by essentially "invading Arabs" who forced their religion and ways into the region. If the Assyrians (who were the first group of people to accept Christianity) stilled ruled Iraq/Mesopotamia today, the Middle East would be a very different place.
