Many less expensive companies don't test on animals, although Body Shop is nice, too. Aussie, for instance, doesn't animal-test. Here's a list of other cruelty-free products:

Try L'Occitane products. The soaps are the best on the market and all natural stuff is used. You can use their shower gels as shampoos and the smells are lovely. Treat yourself, the products last for ages too and are 100 times better than the body shop!

Burt's Bees offers all-natural (or mostly natural) products that are not tested on animals. They've recently started producing shampoos, conditioners and body washes in addition to their other products. I am addicted to everything B's bees. I use the Super Shiny Grapefruit stuff for hair, and it keeps my oily scalp in check and my hair nice, soft, and shiny. They also have a new line of product for color-treated hair. Good luck in your search.
