You are probably thinking of the film Brewster's Millions, in which Brewster has inherited 100,000,000 dollars but only if he manages to spend 30,000,000 in 30 days. The catch is he can't own anything at the end of the 30 days. He can't give it all to charity either, so basically he rents stuff.
I would go and buy some cars, you can do that in a day, auctions as well, buy some valuable stuff. Probably go mad and buy all the cds, books, etc. I've always wanted and other silly things.

You are thinking of Brewsters Millions. Fab film!
I'd book some really lavish holidays for now and the next year for myself, family and friends. Buy a car or two. Buy lots and lots of expensive jewelley- could always sell what i didn't want for cash at a later date!

Since you can hardly find so many lottery tickets to cover the million pounds the best choice would be to play a LOTTO card with as many numbers covered to reach 1 million pounds :)
You can spend them in 5 minutes and cross your fingers for the first lotto extraction! :)

Read through the answers to see if anyone agreed with me - and yes Stephen did - the only sensible thing to do would be to buy gold.It wouldnt make a good film, but thats what i'd do.

I'd really want the house, so I'd have to buy myself something valuable, perhaps art at auction, then trade up until I got one like the fellow who managed to trade a giant novelty paper clip for a house.

Buy a house, 2 new cars, pay off all my debts, and the rest, I would buy my kids anything they wanted.
Over here in California, the house, and cars would wipe out about $800.000 of that anyways.

Buy as much gold as you could, a little bit at a time throughout the day and then sell it all for unrestricted cash tomorrow!
