Hiya - my Fiance and I are going to find out the sex of our baby at the next ultrasound and we are really excited. I am convinced it is a boy but if they say its a girl I will be thrilled also. I wanted to know if anyone had found out the sex and then gone on to have the opposite? I am really reluctanct to buy too many unisex clothes and would love to buy some cute boy or girl outfits but wanted to know what the chance were of the radiographer getting it wrong! Any stories?

Wait till the baby is born. Before buying clothes and toy, pray to the almighty for a healthy delivery.

Congratulations! I hope he brings joy into yor family.

When I was pregnant with my 1stborn, the gynae said its' a girl! and then immediately said 'no, it's a boy. I'd seen a buttock.'

My sister thought she was expecting a girl up until the 38th week! Suddenly the gynae said 'oh boy, I am afraid the girl is growing testicles.' The hubby was delighted since he only prefers boys - this was the 2nd boy.

A normal scan can lie or can get it wrong sometimes. A 3-D on the other hand selsom lies. I suppose you're doing a 3D since you are talking about a radiologist.

I've also heard that, with a normal scan, if they say it's a boy it's usually a boy; but if they say it's a girl, there are still chances that they could have got it wrong. A boy's aboy, make no mistake! Good luck.

I found out the gender of both my children through ultrasound. In both, it was pretty obvious we were looking at "boy parts" and "girl parts" and there was no mistake. I think if the Dr. or tech who does the US has any doubt then they shouldn't say one way or the other but usually, if the baby is cooperative in the right position they can tell pretty much without a doubt.
As to people who would say, "Didn't you want to be surprised?" I answer, "I WAS surprised!"

my mom is a labor and delivery room nurse and she says there has been there on many occasions where the couple thought they were having one sex and had a different sex baby to take home. When I was pregnant with my daughter and we went for the sonos. My daughter kept crossing her legs so the doc kept saying she was 85% sure I was having a girl. My mom kept buying clothes that would go both ways even though I kept saying "but the doc said I was having a girl" Mom kept reminding me that she was only 85% sure of a girl.

Now for my son it was obvious on the sono...he had his legs wide open and was playing with himself or at least that is what it looked like. Which as a joke the doc took a photo of and gave to me for his baby book.

i have 3 children and never wanted to know the sex prior to the birth...however i didwant to be prepared....so i picked out a set of things for a boy and a set if it was a girl....when the baby was born the inappropriate set went back to the store....some of the better stores will even put them on hold or on layaway til the birth...

the chance of a wrong call at the ultrasound is a probability....i know 3 women that were told incorrectly...it usually will happen i believe as a boy call and it turns out to be a girl....

best of luck for a healthy and happy bundle of joy!

Both pregnancies I was told I was having a boy and went on to ave 2 healthy baby BOYS!! I've heard though that it is easier to tell if it is a boy..because if you have a chubby baby and the legs are close together they may not want to risk telling you it's a girl because it could be a boy with it's "parts" hidden lol! Anyways good luck and I hope they can tell you what it is!! :)

ask whoever is doing the scan how sure they are that its a boy/girl.
i had my scan and was told a boy i saw his bits but stilll have a sense of doubt. how far along are you? the further along the more clear it will be, however saying that i was only almost 18weeks and it was clear what mine is.
if you are stil not convinced after the scan buy enough to get you through a few days of pink/blue the rest can be brought after he/she comes.
i have loads of blue stuff but have some beige and white just in case

It's really very rare to have a mix up. Techs usually know what they see, and thery will tell you how sure they are when they tell you. I like to see diff techs if i can to get a second opinion. I am sure you will be told what you are having, and it will turn out to be it. GOOD LUCK, and CONGRATS!!!
