I rolled it up and went outside and tried. Honest, I did. I have that much work to avoid. (Keep in mind that I live above the 54th parallel and it is -35 degrees Celsius... I am dressed in a tank top and men's long johns)
My best throw was about 12 m. The worst was a measly 3m, but there was a sudden gust of wind and my hands had sort of cramped up from the cold.
The upside of this is that my neighbours now have something else to discuss....

Can I wad it up first? At least two feet, maybe even three or four. You see, I wouldn't want to throw the towel any further than the person laying on it. . . otherwise they would land in the sand!

Open, about 3 feet, if I rolled it up and put a rubber band around it then about 6 feet. Odd question.
