The scariest book that I've ever read I think is The Stand by Stephen King. The movie wasn't near as good.

The scariest movie would be The Shining by Stephen King. Most any movie or book by Stephen King is pretty scary or weird.

Also, the first When a Stranger Calls was really creepy. The second wasn't so great.

Well, I've never read a movie...generally, one watches movies.

The most frightening book I've ever read was, "The Exorcist."

I would also have to say that the original book about, "The Amityville Horror" by Jay Anson was also actually quite frightening (though highly fabricated).

I've seen many frightening movies but I would have to say that one of the worst (on a scary rating) was, "Session 9"....very twisted and very disturbing.

But then again, there are different kinds of scary...there is also, "Red Dragon" and "Silence of the Lambs".

Scariest movie - The Exorcist
Scariest book - Toss up - (1) "The Mist" by Stephen King; (2) "Ghost Story" by Peter Straub; and (3) a short story called "Best Friends" about this nerdy kid who kills his parents and said that demons inside him did it...and that Satan was a good guy who wanted to free all the babies and wrap them in letterman jackets and sing Beethoven. Then the kid's head explodes and these demons come out and try to kill babies in a maternity ward....cr@p, it was horrible.
