Currently - Chinese communism. It is more responsible both domestically and internationally than the USA. But both have their detremental effects. Continued growth based on politics in which the only people who have there say are registered politically, or a 4 year free for all multi-millionaire extravaganza in which mostly politically uneducated people vote for whatever they feel is best for them and their personal beliefs - not the country.
Tianamen square yes - Bonus marcher/veterans massacre in Washington after WW1, yes...but China has only been developing for 25 years...with 1.3 billion people. Anyone who bashes China today obviously doesn't understand the problems the US was facing in its early stages.
I hate neo-cons, but:
"The lifting of 400 million people out of poverty since 1980 has been one of the greatest achievements in human history." - Paul Wolfowitz. I can't believe I'm quoting him.

Assuming you mean American Democracy and Soviet Communism, I think American Democracy is better because it has lasted longer, is better at limiting the excesses of government, and does care more about it's citizens.
The biggest problem with the Soviet model was the economy was fiscally mismanaged to the point where the system actually collapsed.
The problem I see with American Democracy (as an outsider) is the national debt is now out of control. I haven't heard of any attempts to reign it in either.
I'm just wondering if ObL achieved something he never thought possible: The collapse of the American economy.

Theoretically communism is far better. It has to do with equality, justice, power for the people, fair distribution of wealth, free services for all the people etc..However practice showed that it is more of a dream than a reality .China though is unique. They reached their present status by sacrificing whole generations who lived and died poor.Communism in the former Sovit Union might have had a chance if (somehow ) it would not have been fought by the West.

Democracy is unlimited majority rule.
Communism is unlimited majority rule.
The logical outcome of democracy is socialism then communism or fascism.
Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned.

Democracy all the way. It breeds competition, which breeds innovation, which breeds limitless possibilites. I'm not saying it's flawless, but I will choose free thinkers and freedom over "government knows whats best for you" communism.
To anyone that thinks china is better than the USA, think about this: How many people are trying to immigrate into china and how many are trying to immigrate into the USA? The United States is the world's #1 destination for immigrants and would-be immigrants.

Democracy. Hard work is rewarded. Individuality is tolerated.
What incentive to become the best you can be, under communism? No one is that "good," that they just love their state that much.
And currently, China is benefitting hugely from democracy, OURS. I'm all for it, but let's give credit where credit is due.
