It was originally stated that they didn't want to put him in the first two because his whole persona was too much like Wolverine and that his power wasn't that interesting... which is total bull.
He is supposely slated to be in the fourth installment and the actor that plays "Sawyer" on LOST is the prime choice to be cast as Gambit.

And the student in the deleted scene the previous poster is refering to is Jubilee...not Gambit.

I've heard that the reason they didnt have him in the movie is because the guy who they wanted to play Gambit(Josh Holloway from lost) did NOT to play him. He said that Gambit's character was too much like his character in Lost. So the writers wrote gambit out of the movie because some jerk didnt want to play him.

But personally, I think another reason why they didn't put Gambit in the movie, was because it would have taken away from Wolverine's character. They are both the loner, bad boy type with the shady/mysterious background, the ladies man. Seeing as how Hugh Jackman is now a big time actor, I'm guessing they didn't want to have him share the lime light with the same character type and with someone who is less skilled in acting.

That is a good question - I thought maybe because he wasn't with the X-Men when they really became popular in the 1970's, however the existance of Rogue for one blocks that theory of mine. Perhaps he will show up in X-Men 4 (assuming there is one).

Hmm. reliable alternatives. the guy with out guy (Clint Eastwood) - Sergio Leone's money trilogy Mad Max (Mel Gibson) - The Mad Max trilogy "Snake" Plisken (Kurt Russell) - ruin out from huge apple and ruin out from L.A. Wez, from the line Warrior, receives an honorable element out. So does The Terminator.

There are way too many mutants to give them all justice. It took 3 films to get to the Beast and Angel. See what Xmen4 brings.

SHe is

all though her scene was deleted.

In Xmen (1) in the class room scene if you watch the deleted scene of it, as the two guys create ice and fire, you see a wider shot of Rogue.. two seats down is gambit.

she's still a student in that time.
