How are your customer service skills? That is the most important aspect. You are not being hired to drink coffee, you are being hired to sell coffee. But, unless the coffee shop sells nothing but coffee, which I doubt, you have a lot of other things to talk about. Most coffee shops don't make their money on brewed coffee they make it on other things: food, gift items, supplies, etc. You can redirect the interview away from drinking coffee to your organizational skills, the importance of a clean and organized shop, money management, etc. The first thing I customer will notice in a coffee shop is its cleanliness, particularly if this is not a chain store. How fast is the customer served? That is another important part. Remember, coffee shops are really no longer just about coffee, they are now about the culture. Hope that helps and good luck. In the end if you are not happy, don't slack off or quit going, build yourself a reputation as a good worker and find another job first before giving proper notice.

Not that much. Just try to learn what coffee drinkers like as far as varieties of coffee, flavorings, freshness etc. Good luck!
