It usually pays in Oodles, whatever they are.
My son volunteered for the U.S. Army and he got one free all expense trip to beautiful downtown Baghdad and another trip to Afghanistan about a year later.
One of my daughters volunteered to tutor deaf students and learned how to sign.
I have a neighbor who is a volunteer fireman and he says that it is a really hot experience.
My beloved volunteers her jig-saw puzzles for the local library so people who do not read can have something to do if they get dragged there. She gets to check out books for free (with her library card).
One of my cats volunteers a hairball in my shoe at least once a week. No payment here 'cause I do not know which one is doing it.
Me? I volunteer to answers Questions and occasionally get told to either "get a life" or "thanks for the info." Pay? There is something about points, but I haven't figured out what they are, how to get them or what to do with them if I had any.
Hey, what did you get for volunteering this question to keep us amused? ...... Yah, that's what I thought.
Hey, wait a minute. This question is in Polls & Surveys under Entertainment & Music. I got a good one: I once volunteered to hold a place in a ticket line for a friend who never returned. I ended up with two tickets to for a Pink Floyd concert. Is that pay?

The last time I volunteered ( a couple of weeks ago) I was selling tickets for a United Way luncheon. I thought I would get a free lunch at least for helping out.
They actually expected us to pay so we could eat while volunteering. I went hungry out of mere protest....lol
I had just previously donated a sizeable chunk to this org.
That should teach ya.....lol

This one took a while, I had to go vomit.
Anyway, I did this volunteer drive once. I volunteered to go robbing other people's houses. Nobody even asked me to, I just did it off my own back. By the end of the week, I was a millionaire and had a great little 3X4 room in a block. I shared the room with a new friend I made called "Sheila". Apparently, he was Mr. Universe in '74.

It pays you experience and memories and a certain idea of whether or not it's something you want to continue in your life...
So i suppose it pays much more so than the regular job at the grocery store unless you're volunteering at a grocery store then that kind of evades the point but you know...

If you mean do you get paid no. But if you mean do you get satisfaction out of helping people then yes. I guess it depends on the person. But for me I would say yes volunteer work does pay because I enjoy helping others.

i believe the purpose of volunteers is to not pay them. but you are probably asking if it is beneficial for you to volunteer. it can be very educational, learn things you can put on resumes or just use in life, and be helping others , meet people.

It can, but not well. I volunteered to join the Army, and I got paid a meager stipend.

Sure it pays, somehow...but it also costs!!
So like, if one VOLUNTERED to send me naked pics, it would COST the time and expense(?) of taking and emailing the pictures to me, but the PAY - making a sick puppy very happy - is priceless.
