for which country. if its uk then visit your local british commision. you will probably find a skilled workers program or and working program where you will have to get sponsership from a job here in the uk this is very hard to do at the mo with the eu expanding and the euopeans taking all the jobs the british dont want to do.

if is the usa the same thing go to the us commision in your country if is oz i would not even bother.
nz has a skilled workers program and so does canada.

Since this question is posted in the Australia & New Zealand > Melbourne section, I assume it is for working visa for Australia.

You need to contact Department of Immigration & Multicultural Affairs. Don't try to come in as a tourist and then get a job and overstay your tourist visa. People DO get caught then deported and will be banned from returning for several years (passport ID will be recorded)

I'm not pulling your leg, your far better off and will save you a sh*tload of headaches if you just apply for permanent residency.
