Let me start by saying that I love America. It is the greatest country on earth in my opinion. However recently I've started to realise that some of the most basic facets of our society are based on lies.
I'm speaking mainly of our monetary system. Our dollar (along with most other monies in the world) is not backed by anything except for the governments "good" word.
Since this item which each and everyone of us works for and uses everyday has no true value and is itself a propagation of lie, is it any wonder that lieing is condoned and even encouraged in our society.
I write this after testifying as an expert witness in a trial where a mortgage broker, lied, cheated and stole over $2 million dollars from poor families in the midwest. This man was a success by our societal standards, and I doubt he ever had a troubled nights sleep. He feels no remorse for his actions. In our world he is viewed as a winner.
When did decency go out of style?

We as a culture are plastic, we've abandoned the values that made this country great and instead have gone for the cheap thrill, false success and instant gratification.
Help me understand how this happened.
