You can buy a good quality pay as you go camera / video phone from many shop`s now for around £30 with £20 call time ( so the phone is only actually costing £10 ) 02 does the best deal with the genie card you get 300 - 500 free text`s and you still have the £10 call time left !
But you must top up every month with a minimum of £10 !

My son has Pay- as-You-Go for 2 years now... The last phone broke just after less than 6 months after i bought it and i cannot get any replacement or anything. So contract is better in that case. I was looking myself but couldn't find anything for 10p/m. The minimum price was with T mobile 18p/m but offer is already gone. Try direct access to mobile companies (don't use the middle men for that) and keep looking. They do have new offers on a daily basis

You can get one from here. This compnay is part of the carphonewarehouse group and very cheap.
You can get a deal which is cheaper then £10/m depending on what phone you get.

Try Argos, they have some very good pay as you go deals, stops him running up a big bill
