just installed geforce 6600GT card with latest driver. now my pc struggles to boot up, freezing at various points, but pressing reset (up to several times) seems to clear the problem. is it a driver conflict or a power problem or what? using Xp.

It may be a power problem. The card may require more power than your current power box can supply. (especially the new ones, holy cow!). If you have a 300~350W supply, look into getting a more powerful one. It also may be that the LATEST driver is unstable. Trying finding the second latest (these tend to have the kinks all worked out)

It sounds like a power issue but the solution may not be a new power supply.

Make sure your settings are correct and that the card is getting the right amount of power.

Also, check to see if your card is connected to the same rail (there are usually 2 sets of power leads from the power supply, each on a different 'rail'), try switching to one that doesn't power the CDrom or hard disk.

Make sure your motherboard is upgraded to the latest software too, conflicts can mess up your boot too.

Then, buy a new PSU... but if the problem persists, try a new motherboard.

First ensure card is properly inserted i mean of loose brackets. then i recommend Latest to Latest driver for ur card(www.nvidia.com). Update ur driver and update ur windows also.. this will clear up ur problem.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
