You work to make a living. And if you're lucky and have a job you can spend your salary to get a nice big car to drive to work, fill it up with expensive, toxic gas to get to work. You can buy nice clothes (made in China) to go to work, fast food dinners to squeeze in before you fall into bed and dream about work. And best of all you can plan all year long for a 2 week holiday flaked out on a beach recuperating from work. Am I making someone else rich? Or is modern labour inefficient?

Even rabbits and birds have to work everyday just to survive. The funny thing is when life is all over and done with , you get to take nothing with you..so really what is the point on working crazy hours to own a house that takes more crazy hours to get the money to put new shingles on ...then more crazy hours for new windows...in the end..it never was "yours"..it NOW belongs to someone else who wants to work crazy hours to put a new driveway in ...etc...are we slaves??/...hell ya..to MONEY...I got an idea...lets all toss our TV,s out the window and yell that we are "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore"...lol

Yes, and it has been this way for thousands of years. Except back then we were serfs. It was the rich man with all the horses back then. Now it is the global elitists who controls us. If your born into money your set. The majority of the world is in poverty. If you are lucky enough to have a car your considered well off. People aren't even eating in many countries so we must still consider ourselves in the clear. Not only that global weather can change and cause major food shortages. Population is up to an all time high. Where else do you expect us to recess to, other than poverty? Their are so many alive. They keep us fed like pets through our stores. More than half the country would starve if their were food shortages. I guess you just gotta get your kicks while your here. Don't take for granted your family and friends. Someone always wants to be the biggest rat with the most cheese. But all you have in the end is the people around you and then it all goes black....

Yes, I feel like this a lot. I have pictures of beach calendars hanging in my office to remind me that life is more than work. I try to run and exercise to stay fit so that at least when I take my vacation, I am not like the other poor whales that are victimized by the no time fast food industry. It is hard to stay on top of it all. Sometimes you just wonder what it is all about. Worst of all my mother-in-law (what rhymes with witch) who has never worked a day in her life, wants me to spend all of my vacation time with her so that she can throw out her usual drunken barbs. I am almost going to refuse to go. I think so many people are tired.

Part of this is " the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer". This enables the society to free the rich, and to use the poorer groups as slaves. It is a historical problem. [It has always been with us, and unless democracy can find a better way it will stay]

We are all brain washed in to thinking that we need fancy cars big houses, decorated like the one in the magazines, best labels, and designer sunglasses. no time for family got to take the kids to kon fu and music lessons were teaching them to spend to. if only we could learn to be more humble, live with just necessity's live would be simple, and find that stress levels will come down.

wow, how much are you getting paid? Slaves got medical care, clothing, job security, food, shelter... you can't buy that kind of stuff for minimum wage in the states so you must have a good paying job, eh?

Considering slaves never earned salaries, and what you drive, eat and wear is a matter of personal choice, as is your means of employment; then no we don't live like slaves. Who's your massa?

Of course we're living like slaves. No animal on earth works as much as we do, and no animal on earth is more unhappy with their PHYSICAL lot....never mind the mental lot.

We are slaves of corporate giants that manipulate us. We are slaves to our own herd mentality and gullibility.

You need to look at the condition people have been in the past..... and the condition of slaves over the many years..... and rethink your coments....

This isn't even really worth debative answer.... just quite yourself and go look into what your talking about some first.

it could be worse you could be livin 100 years ago working 12 hours a day sweeping chimneys filling your lungs with soot to to earn just enough money to watch your family slowly starve while disease eats away at them and you slowly realise you will die before your kids are old enough to find careers for themselves and be forced to work in a mine digging holes barley wide enough for their body and planting explosives that will go off when they are supposed to if your having a good day
