we are proud of our ancestors, but we are unaware that we can invite them for dinner. even the informed ones would most probably freak out at the thought. so, our very clever ancestors do turn up uninvited. explains why sometimes the food on our plates finish so fast.

This might have been mildly amusing if you had said "proud of their cousins." Ancestors are, as I'm sure you know, long gone, and unable to eat dinner. Even the ghosts in Harry Potter admit they cannot eat.
