I get them all the time, well.. at least once a day (everrryday). I just had another one. Sometimes it even makes me emotional and want to cry. Like seeing/reading about an old friend online, and thinking about how much we have matured and are out in this big world by ourselves now. It seems like "just yesterday" we were 6 y/o in girl scouts and ballet class. Or, thinking about sitting in French class and just staring at the pictures and imagining what'd it be like to be in some exotic place-the carefree nature is what I miss most I think.

Do you have this? Or am I one of the only ones that gets sad over these things? I'm 22 now and get glum every time I realize that I've lived 1/3 of my life expectancy.

I'm 35 and I think back all the time. I remember riding around listening to Bon Jovi way too loud, smoking Marlboro Lights, drinking Strawberry Hill and not even giving a thought about when I had to be home.
No bills!
No resposibilities!
Man those were the good old days!

Oh my gosh, if I were 22 again, watch out world! You are still a "kid," so don't let yourself slip into the doldrums. I'm over twice your age, and I have experienced what you are feeling at times in the past.

But then I realized that sometimes what I was actually MISSING were just some of the sounds, smells and sights of that earlier time. Think about what those things you miss might be: was it the silk slippers in ballet, the hardwood floors, the mirrors, the tutus, things that are pink, do you yearn to travel abroad (highly recommended). Find ways to incorporate those tangible things into your life today. There are certain smells we associate with our particular youths: try some aromatherapy. Did you have a favorite shampoo, cologne or suntan lotion that smelled great when you were younger? Maybe take more dance classes, buy something silky and pink, do something that makes you feel young and carefree again, look into travelling. You once daydreamed of exotic places, well, now you're old enough to get a passport and take a cruise! Don't believe the lie that "all the good days are gone." That is the springboard to depression...and it's a LIE. The truth is that your life is really just starting NOW. You grew up, learned to walk, read, dress yourself, you went to school, learned about the big, big world out there. All that happened to get you to TODAY, where you can really start living your life the way you want to!

I think something in you is apparently yearning for something intangible and it is a STRONG yearning. Because it is such a strong yearning, I suspect it might even be God trying to get you to take a certain ACTION out of your yearning and frustration. Once you do, that may, in turn, lead to something that will bring you to the next level in your life. For example, your yearning may force you to remember your desire to see exotic places and you may decide to take a trip overseas. And while overseas, you may meet someone very important or something great may happen while you're there. You may stumble upon your life's purpose or work, discover a hidden talent, meet people who will play an important role in your future... Sometimes God puts something in our hearts that makes us a little uncomfortable, causing us to take an action that He can then USE to improve our circumstances... Don't dislike the way you feel today, USE it to transport you to the next level He has in store for you.

I have it...I am 28 and sometimes I wish I was 22 again. It was much simpler back then...and at 22 it seemed like 18 was simpler. I think we all look back at life and see the high points and just want it to be that way again, even if it's only for a minute to remember and then pop back to life again. When they say that life only gets harder...it does but there are still moments in time along the way to look back at and feel some peace again. It's life and we live it and have some great experiences along the way no matter our age.

At 22 you are worried too much about the expectancy of your life. We live way past 66 and by the time you are 66 or even me...life expectancy will be more like 99. Yes, reflect and enjoy but live everyday as grueling as it may seem...someday you will look back and wish you were 22 again and realize everything you have accomplished in the past few years.

You are being a bit dramatic aren't you? You are 22!!! You don't start with this foolishness until you are like 40 or something. Live your life now because THESE events from today will be your memories for tomorrow. Do you want those memories to be about you needlessly pining? What if you get hit by a bus tomorrow? Or die in a plane crash. Is wallowing going to be your greates achievement?!!

You are missing out on the now. You can't go back there. Cherish it for what is was and move on. Make new memories. Stop whining, get out of the jacuzzi of self pity at your pity party dry off, dress up and go out and have some FUN!

You are not alone. I get sad thinking about the way things were. I always think about going back to the days when I was young. In 15 years from now I will be thinking about these days that I'm living now and wishing I was back.
My friends and I get together and always talk about what it was like when we were in our early teens. It's so good to reminisce.
